There is a problem amongst many Jamaicans, and this problem is that we do not know enough, early enough.

Do you know more about English or American History, than you do about Jamaican History?

The Jamaican Diaspora is ~89% of the entire Black Jamaican population. Many within this number are now two or three generations removed from Native Jamaicans, as such, the need for easily accessible information and education is all the more important.

If we wish to maintain our stature and status, we need to have a background of what has happened in our past. This dilemma would seem two-fold for Jamaicans, especially those living as diasporas within the United Kingdom, the USA, Canada, or other nations, who are twice estranged from their homelands and are scarcely taught of their history and cultures.

This book writing project was undertaken to help improve the Jamaican Diaspora’s and Native Jamaican's engagement with our culture and origins, and thus, improve a feeling of identity and belongingness. As such it is a therapeutic and rewarding experience that I hope to bring everyone else on.
